on the borderline.

today was our last day in san diego, and was spent right on the border of america and tijuana, mexico. standing literally a matter of meters from mexico, we finished off last minute errands. which surprise surprise, mainly involved last minute shopping. having been up a majority of the night unwell, i couldn't quite muster the energy to carry the camera today. so apologies for the complete lack of photographs!

we started the day driving south towards tijuana. arriving at the mexico border, the advertisements shifted from english to spanish, and the demographic changed quite dramatically. a big black fence stood between america and our foreign friends. it seemed like a pretty big statement, to have a big fence keeping the two places separated so severely. doesn't exactly seem lovely and welcoming to our dear neighbors! but then again, when they move over as illegal immigrants constantly i guess it's necessary...

well priced nike apparel saw me converted to gym clothing, and the ridiculously well priced shopping made me wonder why exactly australia are charging double the price for things...

from the border, we returned to the navy exchange, where we sauntered and had lunch. young navy men and women walked around with their families, and young girls fawned over their navy boyfriends. we then made our way to fashion valley-an upscale, open air shopping mall. it was a really beautifully set out place, and the shopping wasn't half bad either!

we spent the afternoon in the hammock, and packed for the next few days. off to anaheim tomorrow before los angeles, to see the wonder that is disneyland. super duper excited!!!!
