what a hectic time it has been. i have no idea of how long it has been with time changes being taken into consideration. currently lying in bed at the hostel with mum fast asleep in the bunk below. it has been a bloody long day.
arriving in san francisco from the plane was like something ripped straight from a hollywood movie. herded like cattle into border immigration and security, it took ages to be processed. as we all stood bleary eyed and exhausted, a siren began to sound. "there has been an incident, evacuate". we all remained in the line staring at one another. none of the employees seemed to be panicking, so we ignored the noises and warnings being blasted over the intercoms. we still weren't processed through into the country. surely even if there was an emergency they couldn't just let us all run free like illegal immigrants. strange start.
we caught the train from the airport into powell street after maneuvering our way around the ticketing system with the help of a local. stepping off the train and emerging up the steps, the temperature gradually increased. the sounds of live music got louder, and before we knew it we were bathed in sunshine and surrounded by street performers. absoloute bliss.
we spent the day shopping, getting our american phones sorted out and going grocery shopping for american candy. dinner at a diner and then back to the hostel as jet lag begins to set in.
